As of September 1st, 2011 the Alberta Government is making it mandatory that Home Inspection Companies for Re-Sale Homes be fully Licensed and Certified by the Government. The Inspectors must also carry One Million in Errors and Ommissions Insurance in case they provide faulty work or advice to Buyers. The Inspectors report will stand for 2 years from the time of Inspection as of Sept. 1, 2011.

New Construction on the other hand is not covered in the regulation because it is already sugject to Inspections by Safety Code Officiers accredited by the Safety Codes Council of Alberta. The Governement is cracking down on shoddy work and Realtors across Alberta are excited that this is finally coming to light.
